Funding & Refund Policy

A business pays Metaswap for two different things, on two different schedules, under two different rules. Nearly every billing question turns on which one is being asked about.

A cancelled subscription does not refund campaign funds, and returned campaign funds do not refund a subscription. They are not the same money.

Plans bill monthly in advance and renew automatically until cancelled. Every brand plan includes a 7-day free trial; cancel during the trial and you are not charged.

• Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
• Refunds. Because a subscription is access rather than a deliverable, we do not generally refund a period during which the platform was available to you. Where the platform was materially unavailable for a sustained period through our fault, tell us and we will make it right.
• Changing plans takes effect for future billing periods and future funding. It does not retroactively change the fee already captured on campaigns you have funded.
• Lapsing. If a subscription lapses, you cannot launch new campaigns, but campaigns you have already funded run to completion and creators are still paid. Historical campaigns, agreements, rights records, invoices, payouts, earnings, and tax documents are never deleted by a downgrade or cancellation.

Statutory rights that apply to you are not affected by anything in this policy.

Funding is always a separate, explicit authorization. Before you confirm, we show you the full breakdown of the charge:

• Creator budget — the amount that lands in your campaign balance and is available to pay creators.
• Metaswap platform fee — set by your plan, from 20% on Starter down to 10% on Scale. The rate is determined by our servers from your plan at that moment, and the plan and fee version are recorded with the funding event.
• Payment processing costs passed through from our payment provider.
• Applicable tax, where any.
• Wallet credit applied, if you have a balance.

You authorize that specific total. We never charge a different amount than the one shown, and never initiate funding without your authorization.

Money in a campaign balance is in one of two states, and refundability follows the state.

• Reserved — funded, sitting in your campaign balance, not yet promised to any creator. Still yours.
• Committed — promised against an accepted agreement with a specific creator, or already earned by approved work or verified performance. No longer available to return, because a creator is relying on it.

Reserved funds become committed when a creator is accepted onto the campaign under an agreement, when a deliverable is approved or auto-approved, or when verified performance earns a payout under the campaign’s terms. Every one of these transitions is recorded in an immutable ledger with a timestamp, so the state of any amount can be established after the fact.

Metaswap will not allow a campaign to accept creators it cannot pay. A campaign whose available balance falls below the minimum needed to settle a payout stops accepting new creators automatically.

• Unspent reserved funds are refundable. Close or end a campaign and the uncommitted balance returns to your Metaswap wallet, and from there to your original payment method on request.
• Committed funds are not refundable once a creator has accepted the agreement they are committed against, except where that creator has not delivered and the campaign’s terms release the commitment.
• Paid funds are not refundable. Money already released to a creator for approved work or verified performance has been earned.
• Platform fees on a funding event are not refundable once the funding has settled, because the fee pays for the platform that processed it. If we refund the entire funding amount because it should never have been taken, we refund its fee too.
• Payment processing costs are not refundable — our provider charges them whether or not the funds are later returned.

Refunds return to the original payment method. Timing after we issue one depends on your bank, and is typically five to ten business days.

You can stop a campaign at any time. What happens to the money depends on how far the work has gone, and the principle is that a creator who has done what was asked gets paid:

• Before any creator accepts — the whole uncommitted budget returns to you.
• After acceptance but before material work — the commitment is released back to you, less any cancellation fee stated in the campaign’s agreement.
• After material work or a submitted draft — a stage-based cancellation fee is owed to the creator, as set out in the agreement you both accepted.
• After approval or auto-approval — the guaranteed compensation has been earned in full.
• Performance reserves that go unearned are returned to you once the campaign’s measurement window closes.

Contact info@metaswap.xyz with the campaign or charge in question. Every charge, authorization, agreement acceptance, approval, and payout is individually recorded, so most billing questions are answerable directly from the record.

Please raise the problem with us before disputing a charge with your card issuer. As set out in the Terms of Service, a chargeback against platform access that was made available to you, or against campaign funds already committed or paid to creators under agreements you accepted, is a breach of those Terms — the creator has been paid, and the reversal falls on Metaswap rather than on them.

Where a dispute is raised we will provide the issuer with our records, including your acceptance of these documents with version, timestamp and IP address, your authorization of the specific charge and the breakdown shown to you at the time, the agreements accepted by both sides, the deliverables and approvals, and the ledger history of the funds.

Creators are never charged to work. You keep what you earn, subject only to any cash-out fee disclosed on your plan, and payouts settle from the funding a business has already placed in the campaign.

A campaign you can see and apply to is a campaign that is funded. Guaranteed compensation becomes payable when your work is approved or auto-approved; performance compensation settles after its measurement window and any verification review. A review of performance does not remove guaranteed compensation you have already earned.
